Caramel Macchiato

The origin of coffee dates back to the 15th century, and possibly earlier, is thought to have been in Ethiopia, the earliest evidence of drinking coffee or the coffee tree is from the early 15th century in Yemen, and soon spread to Mecca and Cairo, by the 16th century is had reach the rest of the Middle east, South India, Persia, Turkey,  north  and Northeast of Africa. Coffee then spread to the Balkans, Italy, the rest of Europe as well as Southeast Asia and the America.

There are many tales about how people came to know about the energetic properties of coffee, some involved healers and other involves a goat with a caffeine rush. Coffee was very popular in the Islāmic regions for its appetite suppressant attributes which can we useful during fasting, a need  in some religious festivities such as Ramadan.

I hope you enjoy this synapses on Coffee history, in my case coffee bring back memories, the smell takes me back to my parents’ house, I remember my father grounding the coffee beans, heating the water, the glass coffee pot, the old fabric filter, the anticipation, he used to prepare one coffee pot every day and the first cup was always the best.

I don’t use the fabric filter myself, I use to have the French coffee maker, and a few years back I finally got a Nespresso, and I couldn’t be happier, I don’t like very strong coffee ,so I usually buy intensity  4 to 6, the milk frother is a must if you are a coffee lover like me, I recommend this machines, every couple of months they have special promos and you can find a special deal, if you are looking to buy one, make sure it comes with the milk frother, it is little expensive to buy on its own.

You will need:

Vanilla Syrup ( I use Torani)

Caramel  (torani

Espresso coffee

Skim milk

Milk frothier

Pick your coffe capsule place it in the capsule compartment, turn on your machine and while it gets ready pour 1/2 cup of milk into the milk frother , while the milk is getting ready get your favorite cup and pump two pumps of the Vanilla syrup in it, once the milk is done pour the milk in the cup and place the cup on the Nespresso machine, press the option for a large espresso, once it’s done with the Caramel make a ring around the inner cup wall, then make zig zag lines on the milk, if you are a caramel lover you can add caramel to the cup before your pour the Vanilla syrup, just make zig zag lines on the inside walls of your cup.
